About Sikkim Alpine University

Sikkim Alpine University (SAU), formerly EIILM University, is a State Private University at Kamrang, Namchi, Sikkim. The current UGC record lists the institution as “Sikkim Alpine University (Formerly EIILM University)” and shows 28 August 2021 as its establishment / Gazette notification date in the present UGC listing.

Statutory history: the original institution was established under the Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management University Act, 2006. Its name and sponsorship were changed through the 2021 amendment, Act No. 14 of 2021. The newer Sikkim Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2025 also lists Sikkim Alpine University, notes its former EIILM identity and records the 2021 amendment.

Current study-mode position: SAU's own current FAQ states that it offers degrees in regular mode and that no distance-mode degrees are offered as of now. Partners should therefore not market an SAU programme as distance education. Any future ODL or online claim must first be verified against current UGC-DEB entitlement.

Programme-specific approvals: the university currently publishes recognition/approval documents relating to BCI, RCI, Sikkim Nursing Council, PCI, AICTE, UGC and AIU.
